02 Our Business Offerings: :

JouleCOOL: Comprehensive on-site utility business model applicable to new facilities, where Smart Joules offers cooling “as a service” by designing, building, owning, operating and maintaining the entire cooling infrastructure in return for monthly payments based on demand and usage.

JoulePAYS (Pay as you save): Guaranteed savings on utility energy consumption for large existing facilities through design, execution and management of profitable energy conservation measures. Smart Joules invests in all the upgrades and charges clients a share of the savings under long term contracts.

JouleONE: Data-driven power quality optimization solutions for commercial and industrial customers in partnership with large electric utility companies.

DeJoule: IOT automation technology enabling data-driven continuous performance optimization and client delight. It continuously identifies and corrects for hidden inefficiencies in dynamic energy systems such as air conditioning and compressed air. It 1) collects data in real time from sensors and other many sources, 2) analyses real time and historical data using heuristic and machine learning algorithms to find hidden energy inefficiencies and optimum set points, and 3) continuously adjusts (controls) set points of various equipment to minimize energy use.

03 Role Vision and Responsibilities:

Taking complete ownership to develop comprehensive HVAC plans, designs and budgets for greenfield projects. This involves:

  • Information Collection: Collaborating with the client’s project team and their MEP/HVAC consultants to gather basic information about their upcoming projects
  • Client Requirements Gathering: Understanding the client’s cooling requirements and desires for the facility, and their current plans to fulfil the same
  • Understanding Existing Plans: Gaining detailed insight into the existing plans through a thorough review of existing drawings, heat load analyses, project DBRs, MEP design specifications, and in some cases – audits of existing sites that are planned to be revamped.
  • Summarizing: Summarizing the client’s requirements and existing plans for communication to SJPL’s BD and Design teams, and to external consultants as necessary.
  • Conceptual Planning: Preparing conceptual plans to meet the client’s stated requirements in the most energy efficient manner possible. This should be mostly done independently with some support if needed from SJPL’s Design team and external consultants.
  • Design: Coordinating with SJPL’s Design team and external consultants as applicable to review and/or prepare detailed designs of chiller plant rooms and low side air conditioning systems, including preparing of drawings and BOQs.
  • Value Engineering: Value engineering the design and BOQ from client / client’s consultants / SJPL’s Design team / consultants to ensure that Smart Joules’ final submittal to the client delivers the lowest lifecycle cost of cooling over a 12-15 year timeframe.
  • Costing: Preparing an outline of the project budget as per the final design.
  • ModelingModeling the project’s main features, costs and intended benefits as per SJPL’s standard documents; preparing notes and presentations to communicate the same.
  • Convincing SJPL’s internal team, client, consultants, etc. on the final design and managing all their queries convincingly and in a timely and professional manner.
  • Project Development: Outlining basic project plans including vendor selection, schedule, budget, people, etc.
  • Collaborating internally until we obtain sign-off from the client
  • Handing over comprehensive documentation to SJPL’s project team for execution and supporting as needed till required.

04 The Right Candidate Has:

  • Indepth technical knowledge of centralized cooling systems with fundamentals on fingertips.
  • Required more than 5 years of strong experience in central HVAC system design for large buildings (preferably hospitals and other mission critical facilities). The best candidates will also have experience in project execution and O&M during some point in their careers.
  • Ability to prepare and understand heat load analyses, AutoCAD drawings, excel models, etc.
  • Strong grasp on energy efficiency related to HVAC systems including selection of chillers, AHUs, pumping systems, air and water distribution design, evaporative cooling, filtration, etc.
  • Familiarity with automation and advanced automation concepts to achieve high levels of energy efficiency in centralized cooling.

05 Qualifications and skills:

  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainable cooling
  • B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering
  • Real site experience either in execution or operations and preferably – both
  • Energy auditing experience will be helpful
  • Good understanding of applicable standards such as ISHRAE, ASHRAE, etc.
